LegitTool ("we", "us") publishes independent trust profiles of AI tools, built from public, verifiable evidence. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit legittool.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Reach us via our contact page.
Information we collect
- Automatically (server & security logs). Like most websites, our servers and content-delivery network record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring page and timestamps. We use this to operate the site, keep it secure, and understand aggregate traffic.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of essential cookies for core functionality, and โ where you have allowed it โ advertising and measurement cookies (see "Advertising" below). You can control cookies through your browser settings.
- Information you give us. If you submit our contact form, a tool report, or subscribe to email alerts, we receive what you type โ for example your name, email address and message. We use it only to respond to you, review the report, or send the updates you asked for.
Advertising (Google AdSense and partners)
This site is supported by display advertising. We may use Google AdSense and other advertising partners to show ads alongside our content. These partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Where required by law (e.g. in the EEA/UK), we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set.
Advertising has no influence whatsoever on our trust scores or grades โ see our advertising disclosure. No company can pay to change a score.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.
How we use information
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To respond to your messages and review tool reports you submit.
- To send email updates you have explicitly subscribed to (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To display advertising that keeps the site free.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the site โ such as our hosting/CDN provider, advertising partners (e.g. Google), and our email-delivery provider โ and only as needed to provide those services, or where required by law.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of personalised advertising. You can manage advertising cookies via the links above, unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, and contact us to make any other request.
Data retention
We keep technical logs for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, and keep messages and subscriptions only as long as needed for the purpose you provided them, or until you ask us to delete them.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be made clear on this page.
