About LegitTool
New AI tools launch every day. Some are great. Some quietly train on your files, hide the cancel button, or vanish with your subscription. We exist to answer one question with evidence: is this AI tool safe to give your money and your data to?
We don't review from opinion, vendor briefings, or sponsored trials. We build each profile from public, verifiable evidence, and every claim links back to a dated source you can open yourself. Our scoring rubric is public — read the methodology.
How we build a trust profile
For each tool we examine five things, using only public records:
- Who runs it — company registries and domain records: is there a real, identifiable operator behind the product?
- What its privacy policy actually says — read in full and tracked for changes over time, with the wording quoted verbatim rather than paraphrased.
- Whether its apps are authentic — official app-store listings checked against copycats trading on the same name.
- How billing and cancellation work — taken from the tool's own published terms.
- What users report — public complaints, shown with their source so you can judge for yourself.
We score these into five dimensions and only mark a tool indexable once the core checks are covered. Nothing here comes from a hands-on trial — it comes from the paper trail, cited and dated.

What we are not
We are not a directory that lists everything, and we are not a marketing channel. No one can pay to be added, removed, or graded differently, and we run no sponsored reviews. Tools in excluded categories (AI companions/NSFW, trading bots, medical diagnosis) are not listed at all.
